Farmers and all other farm managements are advised to follow the guidelines of Government of Bangladesh to avoid infection and social transmission of CORONA virus (COVID-19). Precautions and safety measures should be taken up to prevent the Carona virus spread. Simple measures include social distancing, maintaining personal hygiene by washing hands with soap, wearing of face mask, drink hot water, stay at home and cleaning of implements and machinery. Farmers should not work in a group; consult with a doctor in case of any symptom. Please stay at home does not visit the field until it is very necessary.

Salient Weather Conditions & Forecast

The deep depression over west central Bay of Bengal and adjoining area moved northwestwards and intensified into a cyclonic storm “JAWAD” over the same area. Subsequently, it is likely to continue to move north-northeastwards along coastal Odisha towards west Bengal coast. According to the medium range forecast of Bangladesh Meteorological Department, there is a chance of light to moderately heavy rainfall along with heavy rainfall in some places for the above-mentioned districts during the period 05-07 December 2021.

The following Agromet advisories have been provided for the above districts:

• Mature vegetables and aman paddy are 80% ripe, before the rains, collect it and keep in a safe place.
• Boro paddy seedbed and aman paddy drainage drains should be kept clean so that excess water does not accumulate in the soil.
• Drain out excess water from the field.

• Cover the seedbed seedlings with polythene sheets to protect them from damage of rain water.
• Avoid from providing irrigation, fertilizers and pesticides.
• Avoid from sowing seeds and planting seedlings.
• Provide mechanical support to banana & standing vegetables.
• Keep the livestock shed clean and dry
