Green Gram
Mung bean grows in a wide range of climatic conditions. It is relatively a drought-tolerant crop. It grows well in warm and low humid condition under clear sunshine.
The optimum temperature range for its growth is between 19°C and 31 °C. Seed can be planted when the minimum temperature is above 15 °C.
Minimum temperature below 10°C and maximum temperature above 30°C inhibit mung seed germination.
Mung bean is responsive to sunshine hour (3.5 to 8.5 hr). Short days result in early flowering, while long days result in late flowering.
Mung bean grows well at relative humidity ranges from 60% to 85 %.
Cloudy weather and water logging affect growth and yield of mung bean.
